What an amazing year with so many amazing people, China really is the land of opportunity. 

Tomorrow my visa ends and I will fly to Vietnam. The next chapter...

Take me to a happy place...

Sometimes China is a big struggle. 

Take for example coming back from a two week trip to England and finding everything in my room was mouldy, (including my childhood soft toy and a very expensive cigar) or becoming ill and not being able to explain to the doctor what is wrong because I didn't pay attention in mandarin lessons. Well the lastest episode is some kind of bug infestation in my room and I am currently fumigating it. Sacre Bleu... What next?

OCT Loft. Art vs Kids

The last lonely planet china refused to put anything in its edition about Shenzhen, only referencing the boarder points (essentially how to exit Shenzhen). The newest version has a bit more detail, but still doesn't paint SZ in the most complimentary light. Which is a shame because there are some really interesting gems that pop up here and there. OCT Loft (Overseas Chinese Town) being one of them. An art district with cafes and restaurants, with enough effort quirky features to give brick lane a challenge. Here are the two exhibitions thats were on when we visited.

RTB Shenzhen (part 2)

Still pushing the term RTB (Roof Top Bar). Here is Shenzhen's offering, very high standard, surrounded my towering sky scrapers and not as cramp or pretentious as Hong Kong. However service and drinks leave a little to be desired.

Dafan Art Village, Shezhen

The Dafan Art Village is the only calm place we have found in Shenzhen. Everyone seems quite content painting away, or making a frame. The children who live in the Village are also some of the cutest in China, I think it is because they live quite a charmed life, incomparison to the children who grow up in the shopping centres.
